So you want to learn how to play a guitar. Well I have some news and I thought it would be nice to share it with all those guitar enthusiasts out there.
Like any other musical instrument, guitar is something that can easily catch anybody's eye once played accordingly. In fact, you don't necessarily have to be very skillful to grab somebody's attention and turn them into oohs and ahhs. And to be honest, that is something I hate. I mean, I have done a guitar's course for almost five years and once I got out, ready to show the world what I know, I see this guy in the park playing his guitar with a crowd gathered around him, his methods somewhere around my first years of learning guitar. When I try something like that, guess what happens? No One Gives much of an interest.
See what happened in there? Having skills does not mean you have just won. There is a vital point to keep in mind. When you play a guitar, you don't just pull the strings and add a series of musical notes then wait for the applause from the crowd. It is the way you represent it, the way you express it that makes you one out of the hundred.
How to do such a thing you may ask. In my opinion, I think the first thing any musician should know, whether a rookie or a professional, is that music is a way we can express ourselves other than words. It is simply what's inside you-no I am not trying to sound like a cat poster-that makes you different from any other musician.
You guys get my point? All you have to do is to feel the rhythm, try to get that flow going under your fingertips.
Well, now that we have that cleared, let us get down to the actual business. So you wanna play a guitar. The question is, how do you start?
Everything is a journey, I say. If you really want to learn something, then you will be needing fuel to complete that long journey. And basically, the only source where you can get that fuel is passion. Easy to understand really. You don't have passion? Then you are wasting your time.
Anyway, that is all. There won't be any actual guitar lessons, at least not until any other further notices.
Ciao

You might already know this, but I will say it anyway. There are different ways by which you can play a guitar. There is the rhythm guitar style, the finger style, the flamenco and a few others. All of them incredibly awesome to hear if played correctly.
So here is my suggestion. If you want to learn to play a guitar, then you better start with the classics. In this case, the finger style. Truth to be told, I didn't like it very much at the beginning. And still don't really. But the thing is, it will help you build a strong foundation. You will be playing your guitar string by string, if that is not a way to get more familiar with your guitar, than I don't know what is.
The process of learning finger style guitar successfully might take a fair amount of time. Depends upon you of course. But in the end, it is still worth it. Because the good news is, once you get a hang of it, your path becomes clear. It becomes way easier to grasp other guitar techniques such as the flamenco and it takes only a matter of practice before you can show them off to other people. In other words, finger style can be considered as the trunk of a tree, which later branches off into others.
Of course, not everybody is patient. There is the rhythm guitar style you can always go to. And I guess it is possible to learn it on youtube. I think, based on a few celebrities.
